Motability - Faults & Damage

You will enjoy a hassle-free leasing experience that involves maintenance and MOTs with LSH Auto Motability. Basic wear and tear care is included in the package, offering you peace of mind and helping you escape extra charges.

What kind of wear and tear is normal?

Cars are usually rented for three years at a time on the Motability Scheme. It's common for light scuffing, scratching or stone chipping to happen during this time particularly on the bodywork, wheels, interior trim and luggage areas. So, if you begin to note a minor deterioration that may require treatment, there is no need to worry.

Fair wear and tear is often generally known as damage caused by wheelchairs, callipers, crutches or walking sticks. However, more extreme injury could not be compensated by the Motability System. It involves:

  • Deep dents and bodywork marks that go through to the metal
  • Severe cracks on bumpers and housing for mirrors
  • Irreparable damage to the interior, such as burns or tears
  • Heavy gouges for alloy wheels or trimming of plastic

Please be aware that you may be required to cover the costs if your car is seriously damaged when you return it to us.

Minor destruction

You can tend to overlook minor damage associated with general wear and tear. But, by RSA Motability (RSAM), you can make a claim if you wish to have it fixed. You'll need to pay an excess sum that depends on the driver's age. In your insurance policy form, please refer to the information given.

Please avoid making repairs or touch ups yourself as this could lead to further damage.

Mechanical faults

A mechanical fault indicates a system issue. A vehicle inspection will be necessary, so contact your local LSH Auto dealership for assistance.

Recurring issues

Speak regarding any recurring issues with the LSH Auto team. Your car will be tested and any problems ironed out by one of our specialist mechanics.

Windows and windscreen

The earlier the damage to the windscreen is best dealt with, as it will prevent the issue from worsening. The sooner you give us a call, the more chances we have to fix your windscreen. This would include an excess charge of £ 50 if your windscreen has to be replaced; however, the cost of any maintenance as part of your lease is included.

Please note that if they are more than 10 mm in diameter, windscreen chips placed directly in front of the driver are considered harmful, so it is important to get them repaired.

Claims for Insurance

For full descriptions of what's covered, please refer to your insurance booklet. Repairs covered by your policy should be undertaken by a repairer recommended by RSA Motability.
