Mercedes-Benz of Stockport was transformed into a glittering hub of conversation, inspiration, and empowerment as 150 guests gathered for a sold-out evening celebrating women in television and radio.
The event, hosted by LSH Auto in partnership with the Women of the Year (WOTY) Awards, brought together some of the UK’s leading voices in broadcasting for a powerful panel discussion and luxury networking experience.
Chaired by Happy Radio presenter Chelsea Norris, the panel featured a dynamic lineup of women who have made their mark in British media: Liz Fletcher of Fletcher’s Family Farm, BAFTA-nominated Executive Editor Emma Morris (Morning Live, The One Show), award-winning actor Isabelle Smith (Hollyoaks), BBC Morning Live’s Dr. Punam Krishan, and actor Kimberley Nixon (Fresh Meat, Wild Child, Angus, Thongs and perfect Snogging).
The evening was filled with personal stories of resilience, representation, and career growth. Dr. Krishan shared how her son’s innocent question inspired her leap into television and writing. “He asked me what I wanted to be when I grow up and that changed everything for me,” she said.
Emma Morris, who was awarded a special commendation as Business Woman of the Year 2024 finalist, spoke candidly about self-perception in leadership: “I didn’t see myself as a businesswoman, but I manage a team of 300 people and a huge budget. It made me realise how much we sometimes underestimate ourselves.”
For actor Isabelle Smith, who took home three awards at this year’s British Soap Awards, overcoming imposter syndrome was key: “I used to leave after the ceremony. This year, I stayed for the whole night and had the best night of my life.”
Liz Fletcher reflected on her own career journey, sharing heartfelt advice: “If I could give my younger self any advice it would be to not stress so much and just know that it’ll all work out, but not necessarily the way you thought it would. My dream was to be on the West End… and eventually that did happen. Last year I was in Gypsy, but that was 10 years after I finished drama school.”
Kimberley Nixon offered insight into the support systems that have helped sustain her career, saying: “I grew up with six brothers and always had this sense that I could do anything I wanted to. My dad and my husband have been my biggest supports. I know they’ll always step up when I need to work long hours or be away from home. That kind of backing makes a world of difference.”
Guests enjoyed a curated two-course meal from MasterChef’s Delia-Maria Asser, featuring Spanish-inspired dishes such as Arroz al horno and Mantecados, followed by live music from Happy Radio’s Darren Proctor. A luxury shopping experience and a chance to win a Mercedes-AMG for the weekend rounded out the exclusive evening.
Tracy Ellam, Operations Director at LSH Auto, said: “We’re incredibly proud to continue our partnership with Women of the Year. This event was more than just a networking opportunity; it was a celebration of the remarkable women shaping our media landscape and a platform to share their powerful stories. Women of the Year champions inspiring female role models across the UK and across generations, so it was especially encouraging to see so many younger women engaging with the event.”
Each ticket sale included a donation to The Christie Charity along with a raffle, which raised a total of £1,200 from the event to support cancer care and research.
The event is part of a wider partnership between LSH Auto and the Women of the Year Awards, now in its 43rd year. The series brings together professionals from all sectors to engage in thoughtful conversation and support charitable causes.
