LSH Auto supports British Athletics at the Müller Indoor Grand Prix Birmingham

23rd February 2022

LSH Auto provided a fleet of all-electric Mercedes-Benz vehicles to transport athletes, officials and equipment at the Müller Indoor Grand Prix in Birmingham last weekend.

The support came as part of LSH Auto’s ongoing three-year partnership with British Athletics as its Official Van & Car Supplier.

The event attracted a full house crowd to the Utilita Arena in Birmingham, on Saturday 19 February, for an afternoon of athletics, showcasing the best track and field stars from around the world.

Joining the VIP audience were two special guests, Courteney Willets and Kieran Detheridge from Birmingham, who won a social media competition from LSH Auto and British Athletics.

Courteney Willets said: “I was really excited. It was a great opportunity to go and see the athletics today. I’ve always really enjoyed athletics. Being greeted at the door by the LSH Auto team when we arrived at Mercedes-Benz of Birmingham felt really special. We were shown the new Mercedes-Benz EQS and chauffeur driven to the stadium in it. It was amazing. I’ve never had that sort of VIP experience before.

“I really enjoyed the 800m which was the last event of the day. Keely Hodgkinson had a superb performance. It was also fantastic to see Elaine Thompson in person and to see her race. She’s one of the fastest women in the world. It was just surreal. It was such a good day.”

Courtney, Kieron and the Birmingham crowd witnessed a number of record-breaking performances on Saturday, including Olympic silver medalist, Keely Hodgkinson’s 800m victory which broke the British indoor 800m record.

Martyn Webb, Managing Director LSH Auto, said: “We’re really pleased to be continuing our partnership with British Athletics and to support the Birmingham Clean Air Zone with our all-electric vehicles at the same time. We’re seeing more and more interest in our EV range and have particularly noticed a difference in the Birmingham region since the Clean Air Zone was introduced six months ago.”
